Preapre for 70-683 and pass 70-655 as well.

Hello Friends

I have searched two exams that are very similar to each other in many aspects. One is 70-683: Preinstalling Windows 7 for OEMs and the other one is 70-655: Preinstalling for Windows Vista OEMs. These two exams are having very similar objective. One is based on Windows 7 and the other one is based on Windows Vista. But the technologies on which these exams are very much same nearly 70%. So if you prepare for one exam, you have almost prepared the second exam as well. The 70-683 exam has very few objective and I think this is the easiest exam of Microsoft…..

Both these exams are very much in demand now a days. They are based on the latest operating system of Microsoft. It will be a good idea for candidates seeking jobs like IT technician or System Engineer.

So you just need to prepare for one, and you will feel that you have covered most of the objectives of the second exam too.</p>

Shadow copy

Shadow Copy (also called Volume Snapshot Service or VSS) is a technology included in Microsoft Windows that allows taking manual or automatic backup copies or snapshots of data, even if it has a lock, on a specific volume at a specific point in time over regular intervals. It is implemented as a Windows service called the Volume Shadow Copy service. A software VSS provider service is also included as part of Windows to be used by Windows applications. Shadow Copy technology requires the file system to be NTFS.

What steps should be taken prior to recovering a server role?

The steps that should be taken prior to recovering a server role are as follows:

  1. Reset the Active Directory computer account password: Resetting the computer account allows a user to join a replacement computer to the domain. If the computer account is not reset, the user cannot join the replacement server to the domain.
  2. Install the operating system: Install Windows Server 2008 or 2003 on the replacement server using exactly the same volume and operating system configuration as the existing server. The name of the replacement server should also be the same as the failed server.
  3. Install role-specific components: Ensure that all role-specific components are installed on the server.
  4. Join the replacement to the domain: Join the replacement server to the domain.
  5. Run Setup/m:RecoverServer: The setup process will extract configuration data associated in Active Directory with the failed server’s computer account and apply that as a part of the recovery process.
